We finally have a name!

So after tossing around a ton of names, we have finally agreed on one. Bryson Robert Dorsey. We are very excited to finally have something to call this little guy. Now we just have to set up his room. We are soon going to go get the paint and start painting the room so Robert can put the furniture together. We have also picked out bedding that I am in love with. Hopefully we will get that soon too.

We still have not scanned the ultrasound pictures. I have just been so busy with school and work there has just not been enough time. I got my Auburn shirt in the mail the other day after what turned out to be a huge ordeal. I am not 100% happy with the shirt, but haven't been able to find another maternity shirt. After putting it on and seeing just how big my belly looks in white, I decided that it was time to take some belly shots. Here are a few that I took myself. Also, I am posting the only two pictures we took of the big reveal.

It's a boy!

We went to the doctor on Monday and found out that we are expecting a stubborn boy! The ultrasound was amazing. The tech started off by showing us his brain and skull. Then she moved to his heart and saw all 4 chambers. That was the best feeling since I don't think I have felt any movement yet. Next we saw the rest of his organs which all looked great! She then asked if we wanted to find out the sex. Well, duh, that's what we've been waiting for! Everybody kept telling me that it would be a girl since I wanted a boy so bad, but haha. I would have been happy with a girl, I really just wanted a healthy baby; but I'm not a big fan of big bows and smocked dresses and apparantly that's what all the little girls wear now. Just not my style. So as she's trying to find out what he is, he decided to sit indian style and the umbilical cord went in between his little legs. Of course, just our luck! So she starts to poke at him to try and get him to move and of course, he then got on all fours so you couldn't see. At this point we just knew it was a girl because the baby was being so stubborn. So after poking him for a little bit, he decided to roll over...on his back and go to sleep! Just our luck. Are you kidding me?! So the tech then got me to lay on my left side to try and wake him up. Nothing. It's definitely not true about caffeine. I drank a Starbucks frappucino around 11, Robert brought me another big one that I drank on the way, and I downed some orange juice and the little guy still went to sleep. So finally after poking at my belly for what seemed like forever, he finally gave up and just threw his legs in the air! It was then confirmed without a doubt, a boy! Of course we immediately asked what the difference between the umbilical cord and the boy part were and she showed us, so he definitely is a he! We are so excited, not only to have a healthy and what appears to be normally developing baby, but also a boy! My mom bought the furniture on Sunday and we loaded it into the house late Monday night. We will wait to put it together once the room is painted; which won't happen until we decide bedding which is where we are headed tomorrow. Still no names yet, we can't agree on anything. Every name is either too common or too "sissy", or taken.
I called all my friends who were off work and told them and texted all the friends that weren't. We made our families wait until that night to tell them. We didn't want to just tell them over the phone. So we went to Robbie and Martha's where my mom was babysitting Will and just showed them the video. My mom was so impatient, that's about as much of a suprise as we could do for her. For Robert's family, we made a cake and added blue food coloring to the mix. We iced it and wrote the words It's a.... When they cut into it, they saw the blue icing and his mom freaked out; in a good way! I go back to the doctor on November 2 for my glucose test which hopefully I will pass. Other than a little swelling in my feet and ankles, so far so good. The swelling is not related to my blood pressure since it's perfect. The doctor told me to cut back on the salt and prop my feet up to see if that would help. Nothing to be concerned about; it's more than likely the way the baby is sitting on one of my veins. I will post ultrasound pics once we get them scanned into the computer.

Dr. Appointment and Anniversary!

So I have failed on keeping up with this blog but pregnancy really does make you tired. I think I could sleep all day long! Anyway, we went to the doctor on my birthday, August 11 for our 2nd prenatal appointment. This was the first time we heard the heartbeat with the doppler. She gaves us this whole speech about how it is hard to find it this early in pregnancy and if she did not find it, we would go for an ultrasound. Of course she found it on the first try! A strong steady heartbeat of 163 bpm. We went back yesterday (on our 2 year anniversary!) and everything was great again! This time my mom came with me so she could hear the heartbeat. This time she found it almost as quick and the heartbeat was 152 bpm. Some people say a lower heart rate means boy, but she said do not believe everything you hear. Since there were no problems, we were in and out, with the exception of waiting in the room for 45 minutes while she was in a delivery. We scheduled the big ultrasound for Monday October 5th at 2:30! I am so excited, I can't stand it! Hopefully time will pass by quickly.
Yesterday was our 2 year anniversary! I can't believe it has already been 2 years! Time sure does fly by. We decided on Jim n Nicks since I didn't get my Labor Day BBQ. When I showed up, Robert had bought me a gift. I felt bad because I did not get him anything. I just assumed since we didn't buy each other a gift last year and we are going on vacation next week, that we wouldn't do gifts again. Oh, well, I will make it up to him somehow. He got me the cutest little Auburn bag and inside was our baby's first Auburn hat! Since we don't know the sex yet, he got white, which is perfect! I will have to keep my eye out for a good gift for him. We are headed to Gatlinburg on Sunday for a whole week so maybe I can find him something there. We couldn't get the same cabin we stayed in on our honeymoon, but we got the one beside it. Here are a few pictures from our first anniversary! Enjoy!

We are expecting!

So it has definitely been way too long since I have posted. Since then, Will has turned a month old and has gained 2 whole pounds! He is so precious. I know that everybody who reads this knows my news, but I guess I need to make it blog official and announce that me and Robert are expecting too! I am 13 weeks and 1 day, so I am over the dangerous point. We got to see our little bean at 8 weeks and 2 days. We saw and heard the heartbeat at this appointment. First heartbeat was 189. Seemed a little high, but doctor said it was great. We had our second appointment on my birthday and heard the heartbeat again. This time it was 163. So far so good. Our next appointment is on our anniversary! I keep getting lucky with these dates! My mom is dying to go to an appointment with me, so we are letting her come to this one. I know she is just so excited to spoil another grand baby. I am excited that Will and his new cousin are going to be so close in age! So here's the story of how we found out and how we told everybody.
Martha's baby shower was the day before Father's Day. I was already a week late and since I had to be up early anyway, I decided to take the test before Robert went to work. I don't think he even knew that I was taking it. So I grabbed it and told him to go into the bathroom before he left. He stared at it with this confused look on his face. It was pretty funny. I guess next time I shouldn't surprise him so early on a Saturday morning. So I decided that I didn't want to ruin Martha's shower, so I didn't tell anybody. I sat through that whole shower with my news. It was really hard to do. When the shower was over, I pulled Martha outside and told her before I left. I had to tell somebody! So the next day we went to eat at Costa's BBQ in Trussville for Father's Day. We bought my dad race tickets so Robbie had already bought the card. I decided to get a random Father's Day card and I signed it "Love, Amy, Robert, and Baby (due February 2010). My dad looked at it, then looked at me and said "is this what I think it is?" I said yes but told him to give it to my mom. Of course when my mom read it, she didn't say anything, she just jumped up and screamed. It was pretty exciting to find out on Father's Day weekend, so technically Robert has already had his first Father's Day. We waited until we went to the doctor before we told our friends. We decided to have a few people over and told them then.
We are very excited and cant wait to find out what we are having. We probably wont find out until the beginning of October. We have already looked at some names but can only agree on girl names. The one that we love is Brooklyn Noelle. Another one we are considering is Marlee Noelle. No boy names yet, even though that's what we are hoping for. I will try to update this blog more, since I actually have something to blog about now! Here are a few pictures of our little bean!
